Frequently asked questions

  • I have a Diploma in Early Childhood Education, and a Post Graduate Certificate in prenatal and postnatal care and family support.

In 2019 I completed the Maternal Child Health Mertil Training which has increased my skills in supporting families and infants who have experienced complex trauma, including birth trauma.

I have also completed an intensive sleep training course with Helen Stevens (founder of Safe Sleep Space)

  • I provide a home visiting service, and phone consultations aimed at supporting families who identify issues with their babies and toddlers around sleep, feeding and behavioural concerns.

  • If your baby ….

    • Consistently wakes more than three times a night

    • Consistently takes more than 30 minutes to settle

    • Needs to be rocked or fed or driven around to settle to sleep

    • Has difficulties with sleeping and settling that cause you a lot of distress

  • As my service is predominantly provided in the family home, I have an opportunity to assess the sleep space and support you to implement strategies in your own familiar surroundings. There is less disruption to the family, and strategies can continue consistently without having to adjust to an unfamiliar place.

  • The benefits of a feed directly after a sleep allows the infant time to digest their milk before laying in bed, and also ensures they are not relying on feeds to settle. Feeds upon waking are most successful as your little one has more energy to feed efficiently.

Babies grow and flourish when their needs are well met, and they thrive when they know what to expect.

  • Every baby has their own unique temperament and all families have varying parenting styles, cultural beliefs and values. Not all parents have the same goals and and therefore routines are tailored specifically to suit your family.

  • My approach is flexible and methods are discussed with your and your family before making decisions. I generally encourage responsive settling which ensures your infant is able to develop some independence, while still having their emotional needs met. Most importantly we will aim to identify the reason why your baby is struggling to settle and support their emotional needs to help them feel safe and secure, so they settle more easily.

Please note that I don’t use Controlled Crying Methods.

  • Absolutely, when working with me you can rest assured that what we discuss is completely confidential. It’s common to be referred by other family members and friends, and it’s important you feel a sense of trust, and know your story will never be shared with others.

  • I work with newborns-18mths of age.
